5.  KEYNOTE PRESENTATION:  Saving American Manufacturing
SPEAKER

Mike Collins

Small to mid-sized American manufacturers are struggling to find ways to compete and grow in the face of constant challenges from globalization.  Management consultant, writer and trainer, Michael P. Collins, will address FIN-X attendees to explain his thoughts and provide solutions to stop the decline of U.S. manufacturing.

Competing in the globalized economy of the 21st century is going to take more than cost reduction, Mr. Collins believes.  He has authored “Saving American Manufacturing” to outline the changes that are necessary for manufacturers to not only survive and compete, but also to get back on a track of growth.  These include:

·         Finding new customers and markets
·
Increasing the probability of success with new products
·
         Creating new channels of distribution
·
         Adding specialized services
·
Changing to a new type of organization
·
Paying more attention to cost accounting and pricing
·
         Improving workforce education and training
·
         Developing a growth plan

Mr. Collins will detail make argument for stopping the decline of manufacturing from defensive solutions such as cost reduction to offensive solutions that are customer driven.  He will share some of the many stories of progressive small and midsize manufacturers who are growing despite the obstacles of globalization.  Mr. Collins strongly believes that saving American manufacturing is the key to preventing the decline of living standards for the middle class.  Don’t miss this enlightening keynote address on Tuesday morning!

The first 50 full conference registrants will receive a copy of Mr. Collins book “Saving American Manufacturing.” Copies of the book will also be on sale at the Expo.  Mr. Collins other books, “Growth Planning Handbook,” and “The Manufacturer’s Guide to Marketing” will also be available at the Expo.
